2008 … 2nd MRL season

Four new teams have joined the MRL this season: Bernice McNaughton HS (Moncton), Leo Hayes HS (Fredericton), Fredericton HS and a team from Bathurst (an independant team going by the name Étudiantes Sportives ringuette Nepisiquit). All four teams from the inaugural season are returning resulting in an eight team league. An impressive second season looms.

2007 … MRL ingaugural season

Beginning this spring, ringette will be played at the high school level in New Brunswick.

A pilot project between four schools will be held between March 26th and May 12th. If successful, the effort will be repeated in 2008 with the possibility of adding more teams. Already, there has been some interest from teams in Fredericton and Nova Scotia.

Four local ringette associations have facilitated the organization of this new entity – the Maritime (High School) Ringette League. Many thanks to the associations from Kent-Sud, Shediac / Cap-Pele, Dieppe and Riverview.

The three participating high schools for the 2007 season are Clément-Cormier (Bouctouche), Louis.-J.-Robichaud (Shediac) and Mathieu-Martin (Dieppe). Riverview has organized an independent team comprised of players from their local high school.

High school ringette is a first in New Brunswick and in Canada.
